Vlogger and content creator Rosmar Tan came under fire for making an “insensitive” comment about having air conditioning and a comfortable bed while tropical storm Kristine is ravaging many parts of the country, particularly the Bicol region.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Oct. 23, Tan shared her thoughts about waking up comfortably while many others are suffering due to the storm.

“It’s hard to think that while we are lying in a soft bed, waking up with aircon, there are many children and adults who don’t know how to save themselves in Bicol because of the flood and typhoon,” she said.

While she has appeared to have deleted her post or made it not public, a screenshot of her post has been making the rounds of social media.

The remark, however, was perceived as tone-deaf by netizens, who expressed their sentiments in the comments section of Tan’s now-viral post.

“Is this an essay? The length of your intro, you are bragging again. Use your platform to help, not to brag. Remember, you are going to run for councilor; they need to see how you act,” a netizen said in Filipino.

Tan previously filed her certificate of candidacy as councilor of Manila.

“Please just donate the bed and air conditioner to those in need, so you don’t have to think much on it. Oh my god. You should have simplified it. Praying for safety, everyone. Just like that. We are stunned by your comment. I’ll tell the typhoon make landfall at your house,” pitched in another netizen.

The vlogger’s comment also sparked satire and memes content online.

A few hours later, Tan made another post telling her followers that she will be giving away P5,000 to the families affected by the storm.

“I will send P5,000 Gcaash to every family affected by the typhoon. Just comment of your proof video. At the start of the video, just state your full name so we can see that it’s really a legitimate account. This is for all the areas affected by the typhoon,” she wrote, adding the hashtag, “Rosmar Cares.”

Running as an independent candidate, the content creator said  that it wasn’t her plan to seek public office but someone told her to run because “the people need her.”

In June, Tan faced public scrutiny after she and fellow vlogger Rendon Labador caused a commotion at the municipal hall in Coronbetinm, Palawan, leading for them to be declared persona non grata in the municipality.
